Finally, the infamous Santa Monica “June Gloom” is over, and the weather is gorgeous! This can only mean that it’s time for drinking cool shakes and smoothies in the sun 😀
This high protein strawberry-banana shake is one of my favorites because it’s super easy to make, delicious, and has all the protein required for a healthy fitness shake.
I use fresh or frozen berries, depending on what’s available. Both versions taste great. Adding the little bit of banana gives the shake a thicker consistency, without making it taste a too much of banana.
If you want an even thicker smoothie, drop the banana and add a few spoonfuls of low-fat Greek yogurt instead.
The flaxseeds are only there to add some healthy fat. You can leave them out if you prefer.
If you want a shake with even more protein (and fewer carbs), you can also try my Mocha Chocolate Protein Shake.
This high protein strawberry-banana shake is one of my favorites, because it’s super easy to make, has all the protein required for a healthy fitness shake, and taste delicious.
- 4 oz. (110 g) strawberries
- 1 oz. (28 g) banana
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (1 oz. / 28 g)
- 1 tsp. flaxseed
Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until fully mixed (I use my Nutribullet)
Start out with just a little water and then slowly add as much as you like to get the right consistency
Serve over ice or use frozen berries to give the shake a more smoothie-like consistency
